Close your eyes. Imagine with me.
You've been working in your field for 25 years. Studying, working hard, and achieving each "level up" with perseverance and grace -- then BOOM. You're fired, not once, but twice, in the same year, not for any wrongdoing or mismanagement, but for integrity. You've been standing up for what's right—protecting the health, safety, and well-being of our most precious resources, our children. LOL. Then I got hired for a job that I swear was part of some healthcare scam, so I "fired myself" this time.
The proverbial "straw that broke the camel's back" was my son's school closing permanently three calendar days before the first day of school, and finding out about it on the news.
No job, no school? Time for a change, "Brothers and Sisters." The week-long reconnaissance mission turned into a permanent move, overnight—NO time for tears, goodbyes, or fear of the unknown.
Lesson #1: Close your eyes, take the plunge! The water's deep, but refreshing on the other side.
